I used to underestimate the power of writing prompts. They always seemed too stuffy for a fiction writer to use. But I was dead wrong. Starting your writing day with a word vomit exercise can get rid of those initial writing jitters and get you closer to being "in the zone". The writing prompt is meant to get your creative juices flowing and help you relax your inner critic. Once you finish the writing prompt, try going into your own project right away so you don't lose your creative momentum. Learn more about what Word Vomit is here! If you want a free word vomit journal, click here!
Here are some bonus word vomit prompts to ask yourself to help you get started:
Write about the spider who lives under the bed.
Write about a cobblestone sidewalk being built in a village always being attacked by fire-breathing dragons.
Write from the perspective of a blade of grass that was uncut by the lawnmower.
Write about the whispy hands of time and the changing of the seasons.
Write about the time you picked a booger from your nose and it started to talk.
