NaNoWriMo Series: Writing Tip #4
Updated: May 20, 2024
As students, we are conditioned to write at a desk among our peers. We've become accustomed to seeing great writers with "the best" office and "the best" desk set up by the window with "the best" chair. But not all of us have that luxury. Shoot, even as I write this, I'm sitting on my couch using one of those plastic lap tables you find in Bullseye's Playground. My point is to maneuver around your house to see where you are most comfortable and the most productive. It doesn't really matter where you choose to write, but there are a few things that you should consider before really committing to a space. Here are some questions to ask yourself to help you get started:
What time of day do I love to write?
What is the most ideal space that I can imagine for me to write?
Is this spot inside my house or do I need to go somewhere else like a cafe or a library?
Is this a spot where I can focus for at least 30-90 minutes at a time?
Can I get to this spot every day or consistently enough for my personal writing schedule?
