Spring. The single time of the year where things seem to be at peace. I leaned against a pillar in the garden, the metal of my crown clinking in response. She stood there a silhouette in the morning sun, the first rays of light shining behind her. Time had done her well. Though blue was no longer her signature color, that ever present whisp of satin was cloaked loosely around her shoulders. Blue. The baby turtle ducks swam up beside her and her profile changed, no longer her familiar silhouette of days long gone. The satin of her dress hugged the front of her, cascading elegantly over my second favorite person in the world; my ever mysterious child. So much had changed since the war had ended. We all had changed. I shift my weight and she glanced up at me, motioning for me to come closer. We never break the silence of the morning; its too sacred. She signs to me goodmorning and I sign it back. I kiss her forehead and kneel to kiss the top of her stomach. A soft touch of the lips and I'm sent back reeling with the strongest punch any unborn child has ever thrown. Katara laughs, a meoldy that floats on the wind and makes nature want to sing. She signs that he might be challenging me to an agni kai and I errupt into a fit of laughter. I sign back never. She signs back I love you. Her lips press against mine. She's no longer a silhouette now. She's no longer a stranger now. Spring. The single time of the year where things seem to be at peace. Is it wrong to want this? This moment of peace.
So rare to post a fanfiction, especially a "Zutara" one. For the record, I'm not that big of a zutara fan. I just really love this picture so much that I have it as my background on my phone. It inspired me today and I hope it inspired you too. Happy writing!!
