Character Analysis: Get To Know Steven Barkin

The many faces of Mr. Barkin

There are a lot of memorable characters that fall into the sub-category for a show like Kim Possible. Its diversity doesn't shortchange viewers from a chance to fall in love with someone other than the main three. But out of them all, Mr. Barkin has to ring in top side character. I may have to do a single article highlighting some of the other greats that almost took first place, but, for now, let's get to know the leader of Middleton High, Mr. Barkin.

Normally sporting an all-brown suit with a black tie, Steven Barkin is the most diverse side character I've ever met. According to his Wiki Page, he was originally supposed to be a SUBSTITUTE teacher to Kim and Ron, but for anyone who loves this show knows he is WAY beyond that. Throughout the show, he often takes on more roles than he originally signed up for, to the point that I don't ever remember seeing another teacher in the entire school other than Mr. Barkin. In the entire show, he is everything from the chosen chaperone, to the home ec teacher, to the football coach, to the leader of the local Pixie Scouts. He is a vital character in the show that had humor and much-needed conflict for both Kim and Ron in their everyday lives. His presence is stern but comforting, making him one to be remembered in the character books.

My entire career as a KP fan, I never knew Mr. Barkin wasn't the main teacher in the show. He is the leader for everything and anything school-related and often has some of the best side character lines. He is the real O.G. and without his strong hand and discipline, Middleton High would literally fall apart.
